Yoga is the practice of stilling our mental fluctuations. It's the science of self-realisation, a practice that brings more joy, balance and vitality to our lives.
There are many limbs of yoga which include postures, breath work, meditation, concentration, personal observances and restraints.
Yoga will help us incorporate mindfulness into our life as we practice the physical postures and the various breath techniques. Hatha is one of the various styles of yoga and classes can vary in intensity. My classes are a mix of work and rest and ease and effort. The practice of yoga is an ancient one rooted in Indian tradition, the goal of which is to unite body, mind and spirit and bring balance to energies in our body as we connect with our true selves.
Classes are alignment oriented and provide an opportunity to look within, unwind and decompress, release tension in the body, increase strength and mobility.
Aerial yoga is yoga with the assistance and support of a hammock or sling which helps a student achieve traditional yoga poses. These classes are fun, just the right amount of challenging and beginner friendly. We move with our breath and try to stay present in order to build physical and mental strength. The hammock holds 300 pounds and is made of parachute material. The benefits of supported inversions include decompression of the spine, increased lymphatic drainage, increased circulation, improved posture, increased energy and mental clarity, strength and mobility and decreased muscle tension.
Classes are beginner friendly and modifications and variations are offered to suit your capability. Make sure to let us know if you have any injuries (old or new) so we can modify for you. Once you can breathe, you can practice yoga :) There's no better time than now to start. Contact us if you have any questions. Yoga is accessible to all.
Yoga is a holistic practice and it can aid in managing healthy weight and enhances body image. Please note that yoga is not a regular exercise programme and has a lot to offer in addition to physical benefits. It will aid in increasing self-awareness, self confidence, self understanding and assist in overall feelings of well being.
The benefits of this powerful practice are widespread and far reaching. A regular yoga practice will increase strength and mobility, purify the body, heighten self awareness, provides a sense of well being and empowerment, improve your posture, strengthen the immune system and help manage pain, fear and anxiety. This practice can increase the quality of your life ten fold, but don't take my word for it, try it yourself.
Yoga is non-denominational and will not interfere with any beliefs you hold. Regardless of your religion, you can avail yourself to the benefits of this practice. Look at your Yoga and Meditation as quiet time with yourself to be. It’s not another thing to do. It’s embodied being. Yoga and meditation can literally change our brain and overtime, help us to better navigate life’s challenges while making us more competent, compassionate and wise.
